Front Office Fridays: Chris Galdon

Jul 23, 2010

You have seen him in the stands, now you will see him behind a desk as he makes the transition to the Erie Otters front office.

Game night host Chris Galdon recently joined the Otters as Director of Marketing. In his new role, Chris plans and carries out the marketing plan for the Otters. He will also coordinate game night activities and promotions.

A native of Buffalo, Chris lived for two years in Rahway, New Jersey in the mid-1980's. He returned to the region in 1988 when his family moved to Erie, where he eventually graduated from McDowell High School. After high school, Chris stayed busy working numerous jobs.

"I was a DJ for over ten years doing weddings and the bar scene," Galdon said. "I got into managing and owning a couple of different bars in town. After that, I worked for Arby's which I did for four years before coming here (full-time)."

Chris co-currently worked as game night host from the 2007-2008 season while working at Arby's. It's a role that he enjoys doing as he prepares for his fourth season in hyping up the Tullio Arena crowd.

"(I enjoy) the interaction with the crowd," Galdon said. "And being at the games every time. It's a free ticket to a hockey game!"

Like most Otters fans, his favorite moment is when the Otters won the 2002 OHL Championship, which caused him to be 30 minutes late for a DJ appearance (don't worry, he wasn't fired).

Chris' favorite sports teams are the Pittsburgh Penguins, Buffalo Sabres, and Buffalo Bills. He lives in Erie with his wife Jenn (whom he proposed to at an Otters playoff game in 2004), their four-year-old daughter Mackenzie, and their dogs Dakota and Joey. He enjoys watching Entourage and wishes he was with Greg McKegg to meet the cast during NHL Draft weekend.
