Otters lose to Sting, 5-2

Erie, Pa. – The Sarnia Sting scored four power play goals as they defeated the Erie Otters Saturday night, 5-2.

The Sting scored the only goal of the first period on the power play, as Craig Duininck put the Sting on the board at 9:47. Oscar Dansk was solid in the first period, as he stopped 15 out of 16 Sting shots.

In the second period, the Sting scored two more on the man advantage, but the Otters finally broke through with 1:45 left in the period as Connor Crisp put a shot through the glove side of J.P. Anderson for his sixth goal of the year. Connor McDavid set up the play to earn a point in his 14th straight game.

Reid Boucher scored 53 seconds into the third to give the Sting a 4-1 lead. Then McDavid scored an outstanding goal to put the Otters within two.

McDavid picked off a Nikolai Goldobin pass in the slot, deked around Coyotes first round draft pick Connor Murphy, and evaded a pokecheck from Anderson to put the puck into the gaping net at 9:48 for his seventh goal of the season.

Goldobin scored an empty net goal to seal the 5-2 win for the Sting with 1:30 left to play.
