The Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League have announced that right wing overager Mac McDonnell has been released from the roster and goaltender Keinan Brown has been re-assigned to the Cobourg Cougars of the Ontario Junior Hockey League.

McDonnell, who was signed as a free agent by the Otters before the start of the 2010-2011 OHL season, played in 121 games in two seasons with the Otters. The resident of Allen Park, Mich. scored 15 goals and collected 16 assists for 31 points in his OHL career.

The roster move leaves import player Sondre Olden as the only eligible overager (1992-born) on the Otters roster.

Brown, who was acquired from the Peterborough Petes in exchange for a draft pick in August, will start the season in Junior A Cobourg. He briefly appeared for the Otters in an emergency loan assignment near the end of the 2011-2012 season, starting in two games.

The Otters will go into the season with Columbus Blue Jackets second round draft pick Oscar Dansk and top 2014 NHL Entry Draft prospect Devin Williams as their goaltending tandem. The highly-touted Dansk is expected to make his OHL debut this weekend with the Otters.

The Otters open the regular season on the road against the Niagara IceDogs Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. Fans can listen to all the action on Fox Sports Radio AM 1330 The Fan beginning at 6:45 p.m. with the Erie Federal Credit Union Pre-Game Show.
