London, ON – Connor McDavid scored his first OHL goal for the Erie Otters, but a five-goal second period by the London Knights gave the defending OHL Champions an 8-2 win over the Otters Friday night.
Max Domi scored just over six minutes into the game to put the Knights on the board. Then at 11:42 McDavid deflected an Adam Pelech shot to tie the game at one, McDavid’s first in the OHL.
Adam Restoule scored the first of his two goals with three minutes left in the first period, capitalizing on an Otters defensive zone turnover to break the tie.
The second period belonged to the Knights, who scored five times during the middle frame as Seth Griffith recorded a hat trick for the hometown team. J.P. Labardo scored the lone goal of the period for the Otters at 10:07, his first as an Otter. McDavid and Brown recorded the assists.
